My ride up to Santa Monica yesterday took me directly past the Hyperion sewage treatment plant and the Chevron oil refinery which are the two most prominent features of the El Segundo coastline. Both facilities are situated on prime beach front real estate…awesome. Couldn’t they find a better spot? Obviously nobody wanted these in their backyard so they put them right on the beach…good call.

Its crazy how the tar pits are right in LA. You can see all of the gases bubbling up…definitely a reminder of all the seismic activity in this area. Oh yea and the whole area smells like dinosaur farts.

Apparently the Governator keeps things locked down. We’ve been through 11 states not including NJ and 2 canadian provinces and this is the first interstate border inspection.
